Pool-hummock topography west of Hern Stones

Pool and hummock topography around Hern Stones

The area around the Hern Stones is an example of pool and hummock topography (as in Alport).

As the hummock and hollow topography become further degraded, hollows become large wet pools. These pools then separate the hummocks from each other, creating a series of separate small islands called haggs.
