| On 18-19 September 2008, the organizers of the project held their second workshop in Manchester with 20 participants. In addition to the involvement of most of the members of our international network (see section on International Collaborators), the workshop attracted the participation of Victoria Donovan, Sheila Fitzpatrick, Saulius Grybkauskas, Steve Kotkin, Alena Ledeneva, Nikolai Mitrokhin and Nikolai Ssorin-Chaikov. |

Most recently, Yoram Gorlizki has presented his paper “Structures of Trust after Stalin” at the Russian and East European Studies Workshop at the University of Pennsylvania, 23 October 2012, at the Russian and East European Studies Workshop at Harvard, 25 October 2012, and at the BASEES annual convention at Cambridge (UK) on 8 April 2013. His next paper, on Khrushchev and regional party networks in the early 1960s, will be presented at a symposium on “Managing the Empire: Oblast, Republic and Eastern Bloc countries as Soviet Peripheries” to be held in Vilnius on 5-6 December 2013. |
