Ron grew up in the Lower Rhine region in Germany. He obtained his B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2021 from the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In his Bachelor’s project, he investigated the fragmentation patterns of monosaccharides via mass spectrometry, under the supervision of Prof. Jana Roithová. After that, he moved to Amsterdam to follow the Chemistry Master’s programme, a joint degree between the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, graduated in 2023. In his Master’s project, he worked on the development of new methods to control the stereoselectivity in glycosylation reactions, under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Hansen. Ron is currently a PhD student in the University of Manchester under the supervision of Prof. Igor Larrosa and Prof. Jordi Bures (ICIQ, Spain). In his PhD project, Ron combines chemical kinetics with Artificial Intelligence to provide new tools for mechanism elucidation. In his free time, Ron likes bouldering, swimming and playing chess.
