Deepak Behera obtained an integrated master’s degree in chemistry from the National Institute of Science Education and Research in Bhubaneswar, India. He has completed his master's thesis titled "Catalytic Transformations Based on Half-Sandwich Ruthenium Complexes" with Prof Chidambaram Gunanathan. In 2022 he joined the group through a BBSRC DTP studentship collaboration with Dr Christine Schmidt at Manchester Cancer Research Centre and Prof Perdita Barran at Manchester Institute of Biotechnology.
The primary goal of his current research is to precisely map the interactions between proteins in living cells by employing radical clock molecules. His research interest includes understanding DNA damage repair mechanism pathways, enzyme mediated proximity labelling, and photo-crosslinking labelling of protein-protein interactions.
