Anson was born and raised in Leeds, England, and obtained a First-Class Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield. There, they conducted research funded by the RSC into the synthesis of nitro-azole coordination complexes bearing explosophoric groups under the supervision of Dr. Peter Portius, and carried out their masters project toward the total synthesis of tropane alkaloids via a cascade cyclisation-cycloaddition strategy, supervised by Prof. Iain Coldham. Their research focuses on the development of new ruthenium catalysts, integrating chemo- and biocatalysis. Outside of science, they spend most of their time playing video games, listening to music, or working on art projects.
