Speech Acoustics
Fricatives

The aim of this section is to familiarize you with the basic way inwhich fricative sounds are produced and how that relates to theacoustics of such sounds.
On successful completion of this topic you will be able to:
- Understand the basic acoustic properties of fricative sounds
- Be able to describe the acoustic cues that distinguish sibilant from non-sibilant fricatives
- Be able to describe the acoustic cues that distinguish voiced from voiceless fricatives
