Standard curves
- Assay in which you measure a series of known concentrations of
e.g. protein alongside your unknown experimental sample
- Determination requires standards for comparison, in order to
quantify the results
- The most common quantity measured in many assays is absorbance of
light
- By preparing samples with known amounts of protein and comparing
their absorbances with that of the unknown, the unknown quantity can be
estimated
