Cell and tissue damage
Fatty change - Liver
- Mild accumulation may not affect gross appearance
- Progressive accumulation - enlarges, yellows, can weigh up to 3-6kg
- Typically occurs in alcoholism
- Becomes enormously enlarged and leads to fibrosis - cirrhosis
- Can return to normal before cirrhosis if revert to alcohol free diet
