image rollovers and other JavaScript eventsJavaScript is a basic scripting language, or a simple form of programming language, specifically designed for use on web sites. We will start our investigation of JavaScript "events" by looking at rollovers, another technique for enhancing your use of images. But there is more to JavaScript than that, and this lecture looks further into their possibilities and then discusses the creation of fully-blown scripts to make your pages more interactive. Like all the lessons in this advanced section JavaScript is an optional extra on your sites, but it can be a useful one. CLICK HERE TO START VIRTUAL LECTURE EIGHT online materials
Remember you can see a printer-friendly (text-only) version of this lecture if you want to print it off. As yet there are no self-tests for the Advanced Web Techniques lectures. However, bear in mind that it is compulsory in the course work to include at least one JavaScript event, and more marks are available for those who include actual scripts as well, so it is in your interest to work out how these function. When you're happy, move on to lecture 9. |
