• Nasserdine Kechkar | 1986-89 | ORS/Algerian Government

  PhD Thesis submitted December 1989. Nasserdine returned to Algeria after finishing his PhD and is now a professor at the University of Constantine.

• John Atanga | 1988-92 | Cameroon Government

  PhD Thesis submitted May 1992. John took a research position in the University of Sheffield after finishing his PhD. He is now employed as an independent computer software professional. He lives in the west midlands.

• Richard Hanby | 1990-93 | SERC/Rolls Royce

  PhD Thesis submitted May 1995. Richard took a research position in London at Imperial College after finishing his PhD. He is now a director of the IT company Biaret Ltd. He lives in Derbyshire.

• Antony Smith | 1993-96 | EPSRC

  PhD Thesis submitted October 1997. Tony joined the computer consultancy company Macro 4 after finishing his PhD. He is still based in Manchester.

• Howard Kearns | 1995-96 | EPSRC

  MPhil dissertation submitted October 1996. Howard is now a director at the investment banking company Insight Investment. He is based in London.

• Sean Norburn | 1996-99 | EPSRC project studentship

  PhD Thesis submitted September 1999. Sean joined Rolls-Royce after finishing his PhD and he is now a mechanical integrity specialist working for Becht. He is based in Brisbane, Australia.

• David Kay | PDRA 1996-98 | EPSRC Grant GR/K91262

  David took up a lectureship at the University of Sussex at end of the grant. He is now an associate professor in the department of computer science at the University of Oxford.

• Syamsudhuha | 1997-2001 | Indonesian Government

  PhD Thesis submitted May 2002. Sam returned to Indonesia after finishing his PhD and is now a lecturer at the University of Riau.

• Catherine Powell | 2000-03 | EPSRC

  PhD Thesis submitted September 2003. Catherine took up a temporary lectureship at UMIST after finishing her PhD. She is now a full professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Manchester.

• Nick Watson | 2003-06 | EPSRC

  Nick is currently enjoying life as a maths teacher.

• Jonathan Boyle | PDRA 2004-06 | EPSRC Grant EP/C000528

  Jonathan took up another research position in the University of Manchester at the end of the grant. He is now a software system design engineer based in Manchester working for AMD.

• Christopher Smethurst | 2006-10 | EPSRC

  PhD Thesis submitted June 2010. Chris took a position as a research scientist working for BAE systems after finishing his PhD. He is now a principal engineer at the same location.

• Gaurav Prinja | 2006-10 | EPSRC/NAG

  PhD Thesis submitted August 2010. Gaurav is now the head of compression in the investment management company Brevan Howard. He is based in London.

• Qifeng Liao | 2007-10 | ORS

  PhD Thesis submitted September 2010. Qifeng took a research position in the University of Maryland in College Park after finishing his PhD. He is now an associate professor in the school of information science and technology at Shanghai Tech University.

• Glyn Rees | 2005-09 | EPSRC HPC studentship

  PhD Thesis submitted November 2010.

• Lukas Steiblys | 2011-12 | Fujitsu

  MPhil dissertation submitted June 2014. Lukas is now a software engineer at Cynch AI . He is currently based in San Francisco, USQ.

• Alex Bespalov | PDRA 2010-2013 | EPSRC Grant EP/H021205

  Alex took up a lectureship at the University of Birmingham at the end of the grant. He is now an associate professor in the School of Mathematics.

• Pranjal | 2014-17 | School Scholarship

  PhD Thesis submitted August 2017. Pranjal moved to a research position in the University of Wisconsin in Madison after finishing his PhD. He is still based in the United States.

• Eman Almoalim | 2015-19 | Saudi Government Scholarship

  PhD Thesis submitted January 2019. Eman returned to a teaching position in Saudi Arabia after finishing her PhD.

• Adam Crowder | 2015-19 | School Scholarship

  PhD Thesis submitted October 2019. Adam moved to London after finishing his PhD and is currently employed as a quantitative analyst working for Ion Asset architecture in London.

• Arbaz Khan | PDRA 2017-2020 | EPSRC Grant EP/P013317

  Arbaz returned to India after finishing as a postdoc and he is now an assistant professor at IIT Roorkee.

• Ben Kent | 2019-23 | EPSRC/IBM

  PhD Thesis submitted November 2023. Ben took a research position in CMR-IMATI in Pavia after finishing his PhD.
