Hi, I'm Nick Kyparissas

and I design computers.

I am a Research Assistant and PhD Candidate in Computer Science at the University of Manchester, UK, where I work under the supervision of Prof. Mikel Luján.

My research interests lie in the areas of reconfigurable computing and special-purpose computer architectures. My PhD research focuses on the near-storage FPGA acceleration of data filtering for machine learning.

I have also been fascinated by the theory of computation, unconventional computing and cellular automata. I hold a Diploma (MEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, GR, where I worked with Prof. Apostolos Dollas on accelerating cellular automata with FPGAs.

I spent the summer of 2022 at Arm, Cambridge, working on gem5 with some amazing people.

Thank you for visiting, please feel free to contact me anytime!
