Two lectures and one support class each week.
General description
This module starts by revising integration techniques and goes on to use these techniques to solve first and second order differential equations. The module concludes with an introduction to linear algebra and statistics.
Aims
To introduce first year Engineers to differential equations, linear algebra and statistics.
Objectives
On completion of this module the student will be able to:
1. Solve simple first and second order differential equations. |
2. Understand how matrices arise and be able to manipulate them. |
3. Find determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors. |
4. Understand some simple basic ideas in statistics. |
