In a glass furnace small bubbles may easily be entrained in the molten glass. It is vital that these rise to the surface and burst before the glass is processed. In this work we analyse the final stages of a bubble at the surface of a viscous liquid in order to estimate the bubble's lifetime. Viscous, capillary and Marangoni effects are included, and the implications of the work for foam stability are discussed.
