Lead

Masoud is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester and the lead of this research group.

Current PhDs

■ Mollika Pervin

Mollika is working on net electricity calculation from geothermal systems. The project is in collaboration with Technovative Solutions Ltd (TVS). Mollika has been working as Environmental Engineer on several EU Horizon 2020 projects in TVS (almost 5 years), namely GeoCoat, GeoHex, GeoDrill, GeoSmart, and GeoPro.

■ Abdelrazik Elfar

Abdelrazik is a PhD student working on gas transport in clay relevant to nuclear waste disposal. He is supported by Nuclear Waste Services project 11: Application of deep learning to characterise transport of waste-derived gas in LSSRs (2022).

■ Dimas Taha

Dimas is a PhD student working on geothermal heat recovery based on the models of geothermal reservoirs in Indonesia. He is funded by LPDP Program from Indonesian Government.

■ Mehdi Ghasemi

Mehdi is working on gas transport in mixed matrix membranes. He is working on multiscale methods linking molecular scale behaviour of gas in polymer philic membranes with selectivity and permitivity of membranes. He is funded by DDS Award from the University of Manchester.

Previous and current PDRAs

■ Dr. Morteza Aminnaji

Morteza was a PDRA who worked on both EPSRC (NAPL remediation) and ACS (isotope fractionation) projects.

■ Dr. Jin Zhao

Jin worked with our group as PDRA on Molecular Dynamics simulation of shale gas transport.

■ Dr. Anelechi Ibekwe

Anelechi was working on British Council project with Turkey.

Previous PhDs

■ Arash Rabbani graduated in 2020

Arash worked on triple pore network modelling to include Knudsen diffusion and contribution of nanopores in transport of gas in porous media (with application for shale gas transport). Also we developed DeePore a deep learning workflow for rapid and comprehensive characterization of porous materials. He is currently a lecturer at University of Leeds.

■ Takshak Shende graduated in 2020

Takshak was a PhD student who worked on non-Newtonian fluid flow in porous media.

■ Amir Mohammad Norouzi graduated in 2023

Amir was a PhD student who worked on heat recovery from geothermal resources, and CO2 plume geothermal.
