General Blurb
This course combines material from Statistics and Numerical Analysis.
The part taught by Dr. Muldoon introduces the idea of a probability
distribution and includes examples of the most famous and useful
distributions (the normal, binomial, exponential and Poisson distribs.)
The course then goes on to describe the most important statistical
techniques including problems in sampling,
various hypothesis tests and some introductory regression analysis.
Assessment
2P1 contributes to two parts of the assessment
- A coursework project, due in Week 7
- Questions on final exam
About Copying
You are encouraged to talk with each other and with the lecturers about the course and the
coursework. However when you come to write up your answers, the work must be strictly your
own. Any papers that are too closely similar to each other (my decision)
will get zero marks in the first instance and subsequently possible
exclusion from the course.
