Louise Dennis: Teaching Portfolio

As a new lecturer at Nottingham University I have been attending a degree course myself in order to gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. One of the main requirements of the course is that I produce a Teaching Portfolio which is what you find here. Two other important requirements were a group and individual project.

For an overview of all my teaching activities see Teaching and/or the Support of Learning.

For an overview of module and course design activities see Design and Planning of Learning Activities

For an overview of my assessment techniques see Assessment and Giving Feedback

In Developing Effective Learning Environments and Learner Support Systems I discuss an measures I take to promote learning, especially in labs and tutorials and an e-learning environment that I use.

The mechanisms I use to evaluate my practice can be found in Evaluating your practice and personal development

A discussion of the ways in which my research informs my teaching can be found in Using your research, scholarly activity or relevant professional work to inform and impact on your teaching

Four aspects of my role as a professional are covered in access, disability, diversity and accountability.

The aims of all my teaching activities and the constraints placed upon them are outlined in my Teaching Philosophy. This also contains a discussion of different learning styles and how I try to accomodate them. You can also find a reflective statement on my experience to date and a statement of intent outlining actions I am hoping to take in future.

There is also a Reference from my Learning Set Advisor since my School Mentor has retired.

The Evidence section contains examples of teaching materials, module feedback (including SET/SEM scores), documents produced by the two projects and sections giving detailed discussions of the modules I am involved with, G51MC2, G51SWT, G53DDB, G52GRP and G53IDS.

The Mapping Document is terribly dull. It provides links to the relevant pages on this webite that demonstrate my achievement of the PGCHE learning outcomes and is probably only of interest to the assessors of this portfolio.
