- Causes suppurative infections, food poisoning, pneumonia, meningitis, urinary tract infections
- Hospital acquired infections of surgical wounds
- Deep seated infections e.g. osteomyelitis, endocarditis
- Infects metallic-related bone, joint, soft tissue
