1. Summary so far

The remainder of this lecture deals with non-technical stuff. So let's summarise what we've done so far. We have:

  • looked at the idea of style information being described separately from the actual HTML
  • created an external style sheet for our simple web page
  • briefly described how to work with fonts and colours (reminder: you should read about these subjects in the teaching materials as soon as possible after the lecture)
  • considered the idea of styles "cascading" into the browser, with different forms of definition overriding others, and sometimes being "inherited" by others
  • briefly described some of the other text formatting tags you can use to arrange text on your page (again, you should look at the teaching materials for more information).

We are now moving on to a completely different subject. In the real lecture, there is a break at this point in which people can gather their thoughts and perhaps ask questions. You could also take a break for a minute or two and reflect on whether you feel you've understood the ideas being discussed. If not, you could go back through this lecture and recap.

When you are ready, move on to the next slide.
