STACK is a mathematical assessment system that is used extensively at the University to both assess and allow students to practice mathematical questions. Questions can be presented in mathematical notation, including random parameters (so each student sees a different variant). It analyses the student response as a mathematical expression and awards marks accordingly, and can offer specific feedback and partial credit based on common mistakes.
STACK was developed by Prof Chris Sangwin, now at University of Edinburgh and is free throughout the acadmic community. It is used extensively in UK and abroad. At the University of Manchester, students can access STACK through the Blackboard VLE.

The questions in the video are reasonably simple but STACK CAN cope with significantly more involved and subtle questions.
