File Types

Text Files

The interesting text files one can edit to control the models are:

xxxx.smd File containing description of which images and points should be used to build model,
and the parameters to be used during model building (eg number of pixels, number of modes etc)
xxxx.aamprops File containing description of how to build an Active Appearance Model
xxxx.parts Description of connectivity between points.  This is used for display and sometimes to describe which areas to represent in an appearance model.
xxxx.pts Description of landmark points.
xxxx.tri Description of triangles (used to define regions for texture models).

Binary Files

The binary files (which should only be generated by the tools described elsewhere) include

xxxx.apm Multi-Resolution Appearance Model
xxxx.aam Active Appearance Model (requires xxxx.apm to exist)
