Industrial Postdoctoral Researcher

Applications are invited for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to study the controlled release of biomacromolecular drugs from thin biocompatible polymer film coatings, and carry out toxicity assessment and the subsequent gene transfection in vascular cell models. The project is a two-year position available from April 2004, funded by the BBSRC. Candidates should have a PhD degree and experience in the use of in vitro cell models. Experience of cell culture is required and knowledge of biomaterials would be desirable but not essential. Appropriate training and support will be provided where needed. The project represents a genuine cross-disciplinary collaboration between the UMIST Biophysics, the Cardiovascular Research Group (CRG) at Manchester Medical School and Biocompatibles UK Ltd. It provides an exciting opportunity for an individual willing to develop a career across the disciplinary boundary. The research will be based at UMIST Biophysics Group with regular access to the biomedical laboratory at the CRG, located at the Manchester Medical School. The two laboratories are within half-mile of each other. Starting salary will be on the RA 1A scale and up to £24,000, depending on experience. Further particulars can be found here (therapeutics.pdf - 20kb)
