The School of Mathematics has developed a number of outreach activities that we have presented at various science fairs including The Big Bang Fair, The Manchester Science Spectacular , #scienceX and The Brain Box, which took place on Manchester Day in June 2016.
This site provides online resources for teachers to recreate the activities in the classroom. As with all websites, it's a work in progress, so please do get in touch with any feedback.
There are two activities that have been particularly popular
A simple game and activities to demonstrate concepts of artificial intelligence
An activity and exercises based on the research work of Professors Oliver Jensen (Mathematics) & Anne Juel (Physics & Astronomy).
We also run two online competitions from January to March every year
The University of Manchester Faculty of Science and Engineering offers many other outreach and public engagement activities, including fascinate, the Science and Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub.
