An interesting fact ( about which I have learned recently): through my mother, I am a direct descendent of Rurik, the Prince of Novgorod and the first ruler of Russia. There is a line that goes to the princely Dulov family, then to a succession of Princes of Yaroslavl, Smolensk, and Novgorod, and from there to Grand Princes of Kiev Rostislav, Mstislav, Vladimir Monomakh, Vsevolod, St. Yaroslav the Wise, St. Vladimir the Enlightener of Russia, Sviatoslav, Igor, and Rurik.
