Manchester Geometry Seminar 1999/2000
This is a joint seminar of
UMIST
and the
University
of Manchester. "Geometry" is understood in the broadest
sense. Lectures may be on any topic
with some relation however tenuous to geometry/topology, and should begin in a manner
that makes the material accessible to mathematicians in general.
All are welcome to attend and graduate students are particularly encouraged
to do so.
The seminar is held on Thursdays, 3 p.m.
In Semester 1 it will be held at
UMIST,
in Semester 2 at the
University
of Manchester.
Normally we meet about 2.45 to collect tea, then take it to the
seminar room, where there will be biscuits. Each lecture begins
at 3 p.m. and must end, including questions, by 4.30 p.m. Some speakers
will give two connected talks on successive weeks.
For the speakers: Related preprints, summaries
or informal handouts are welcomed.
For all: Please
let me know
of any suggestions
for future speakers or topics.
