Since September 2024, I am Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Manchester.

I previously occupied the Chair of Pure Mathematics at the University of Liverpool that was endowed (as Chair of Mathematics) in 1882.

I collaborate with composer at the Royal Northern College of Music. In 2015, Prof. Emily Howard was composer in residence at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Liverpool.
