By air Fly to Nice International Airport.
From there, take a bus to the train station. There is a fast
shuttle bus from the airport to the gare routière
(bus terminus), and from there one can get another bus to Place
Charles de Gaulle near the Gare de Provence (bus number 1,2 or 5).
Otherwise there is a direct bus (bus number 23) to the main station
(Nice Ville) which runs every 30 mins until 21:00, and
from there one has to walk about 10 minutes to the Gare de
Provence (see below).
By train to the main station, Nice
Ville. From there it is about 10 minutes walk to the
Gare de Provence (see below).
From Nice Ville to Gare de Provence:
Turn left out of Nice Ville station, along Avenue Thiers to the
main street: Boulevard Jean Medecin. Turn left again (under the
railway bridge) and proceed up the main street till you come to
a large square, Place Charles de Gaulle (previously and
more commonly known as Place de la Liberation). The
Gare de Provence is hidden behind the large building on
your left!
From the Gare de Provence (also called
Nice - CP, or Chemins de Fer de Provence, Tel: (+33)-(0)4
97 03 80 80) take the picturesque train, called the Train des
Pignes, which goes from Nice through the mountains to Digne.
You must alight at Annot where you can be met at the
station. Since Annot is about 30mins drive from Peyresq, I need
to know in advance which train to meet. The train costs about
70FF each way.
From Nice there are only
4 trains a day to Annot:

The nearest town on your map is probably Annot which is on the main
road between Nice and Digne. Peyresq and Annot are inthe Alpes de
Haute Provence department.
From Nice to Annot: Take the RN202 from West
Nice towards Digne and stay on it, following the Var river, through
Puget-Theniers, Entrevaux and then to Annot. You can't go wrong.
From Digne to Annot: Take the N85
towards Nice, turn onto the RN202 for Barrême, and continue to
Saint André-les-Alpes.
From Annot to Peyresq: It's about 30
minutes' drive. Follow signs for St. André-des-Alpes until you
come to a small turn-off to Peyresq on the right. Then keep going as
far as you can. And that's Peyresq.
Here is a rough map. Click on it to see it at a larger scale.
