Heparin releasing systems
There are 5 methods whereby heparin is released:
- Heparin is ionically bound either directly to a +vely charged polymer substrate or
- a +vely charged gel that is then coated on the polymer surface
- Heparin-dispersed polymers (diffusion release mechanism)
- Heparin is loaded into a thermosensitive hydrogel-grafted surface at low temperatures
- A complex of heparin and +vely charged polymer subjected to electric current to induce heparin release
