QR codes were posted at green spaces across the UK, specifically in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle, Dunfermline, Falkirk, Inverness, Perth, Scarborough. To date we have had 1,221 responses from all these locations. All summaries of each location will be posted to our website: https://nercmeasureproject.co.uk/

Perth QR survey summary of results

MEaSURE Project

QR codes were placed in 6 of Perth’s green spaces. The areas and number of responses per green space is shown in table 1 below.The surveys were put into each green space on 24th - 26th May 2023.These will be removed ~summer 2024. As of the October 2023, 99 people responded to the QR surveys in Perth.

Activity at the green spaces

The survey began by asking people how often and for how long they frequent the green space. Different type of green spaces were visited at different frequencies. With many urban spaces being visited daily.

Figure 1: shows how often respondents visited each of the 7 green spaces.

Most people spent more than 30 mins in the green space they were visiting. Of the 99 respondents 54.55% of them have a dog(s)with them in the green space. We also asked the respondents what their main activity was when in the green space. 88.89% said they ran or walked on paths.

Deer at the green spaces

Overall, 55.56% of respondents had seen a deer in their green space within the last 3 years.

When we asked the respondents for areas in Perth where deer are present, some of the most frequent responses was Muirton and Craigie Hill.

Ticks at the green spaces

We were interested if ticks were in sub-urban and urban green spaces.First we asked the respondents to identify a tick, 81.82% of people correctly ID’d a tick fist time.

Figure 5 shows each site and the number of Yes or No responses to Within the last 3 years have you found a tick in your this park?

Of those who had dogs with them 64.81% of respondents had found a tick on their dog over the past 3 years. When we asked the respondents for areas in Perth where ticks are present they said:
