As the first real seaside resort established by the Victorians you might think Scarborough would be the epitome of tack. But although it has its share of this it was not built where it was for nothing. The castle, dating from the Vikings, stands proudly above its great double bay, and the summer crowds are easily lost in its steep back streets.
