Peter
Budd is a Professor of Polymer Chemistry at the University of Manchester. He was
born in 1957 in Asmara, Eritrea. During his childhood he lived for periods in
the UK and for periods abroad (Aden and Asmara). He went to School in London
(St Mary's Primary School, Finchley, 1963-1968), Asmara (M.E.G.M. English
School, 1968-1972) and Ramsgate (St. Lawrence College, 1972-1975). He
obtained a first class honours BSc in Chemistry from the University of
Manchester in 1978, and a PhD from the same institution in 1981. After
eight years working as a Research Chemist at the BP Research Centre in
Sunbury-on-Thames, he returned to the University of Manchester in 1989 as a
lecturer, subsequently being promoted to senior lecturer, reader, and then
professor. He met
Alma whilst they were students at university and they were married in 1982. Outside
of work, they enjoy walking in the mountains (especially in the English Lake
District). They are active members of St. Andrew’s Church, Cheadle
Hulme, where Peter is a Lay Reader. |
