Actin
Actin filament cross linking proteins:
- Bundling proteins e.g fimbrin, α-actinin and villin
- Gel-forming proteins e.g filamin found in lamellipodia
Severing proteins: Gelsolins
- Activated by high levels of Ca2+
- Accelerate assembly of new filament bundles
- Speed up depolymerisation
- Change mechanical properties: stiff large bundles and gels become
more fluid
