Mitosis
- In S Phase chromosomes are duplicated
- The 2 copies however remain tightly bound as sister chromatids
- Bound by cohesins
- Visible signs of mitosis are a result of chromosome condensation
(50x shorter)
- Condensins are responsible for condensation
- Replicated chromosomes must be separated, segregation is
enabled by the mitotic spindle
