Liam McMorrow obtained his PhD in 2024 working on engineering a nerve conduit composite for the repair of large gap peripheral nerve injuries. Follwoing his PhD is returned to the NHS where he is a speciality registrar in plastic & reconstructive surgery in Manchester.

Albert Ginjaume obtained his PhD in 2023 working on designing development of peptide-based bioinks for 3D bioprinting applications. Following his PhD he jwas appointed as a veterinarian by Medivet Chorlton.

Andong Liu obtained her PhD in 2023 working on designing polymer-peptide copolymer hydrogels for biomedical applications. Following her graduation she joined The Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Beijing as a PDRA.

Zixuan Liu obtained his PhD in 2023 working on designing and characterising self-assembling based peptide hydrogels for biomedical applicationsFollowing his PhD he joined the Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Centre, Zhejiang University as a  PDRA.

Xiaoxia Huang Obratined her PhD in 2023 working on designing multi-functional peptide hydrogels for biosensing applications. Following her PhD she took on ssa role as Technical Translator for INNO Global.

Cong Ding obtained his PhD in 2023 working on elucidating peptide self-assembly and delation principles.

Siyuan Dong  obtained her PhD in 2022 working on designing and testing of self-assembling peptide systems for targeted cancer drug delivery. Following her PhD she remained in our group at the University of Manchester as a PDRA.

Steffan Llewellyn joined our group in November 2020 as a PDRA under the MRC CiC scheme to work in collaboration with Dr Adam Reid group on the design of novel hydrogel / polymer composite conduits for nerve regeneration. In February 2022 he joined Manchester BIOGEL as research scientist.

Kyle Burgess obtained his PhD in 2018 working on engineering peptide hydrogels for heart repair. In 2018, he was appointed to a PDRA position in Prof. Rachel Watson’s and our groups' looking at engineering hydrogels for the topical delivery of calcium chelators. In November 2021 he joined Venner Shipley to become a patent Attorney. 

Cosimo Ligorio obtained his PhD in 2021 working on developing peptide-graphene hydrogel composites for IVD regenerationFollowing his PhD he was awarded a EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship and joined Prof J. Hoyland group at the University of Manchester.

Helen Clough obtained her PhD in 2021 working on developing 3D cell culture model of tumours using self-assembling peptide hydrogels. Following her PhD she was taken on as medical communications trainee at Nucleus Global.

Xinyi Zhu obtained her PhD in 2020 working on developing novel peptide-based materials for biomedical applicationsFollowing her PhD she was appointed to a PDRA position at the University of Liverpool.

Haneen Naji obtained her PhD in 2019 working on the design of novel high modulus PU resins for fibre composite applications having been awarded in 2015 a PhD scholarship by the Iraqi government. Following his PhD she return to her lectureship position at the University of Babylon in Iraq.

Eva Adamidou obtained her PhD in 2018 working on the effect of responsive copolymers on the structure of phospholipids and their applications as drug carriers. Following her PhD she was appointed as a New Technology Scientist at Unilever.

Vicki Workman joined our group from 2014 to work on a number of projects around the design and development of peptide hydrogels for biomedical applications. In 2018 she was appointed as a PDRA at the University of Sheffield in Professor Sheila MacNeil group.

Beenish Siddique obtained her PhD in 2018 working on the design of polymer-peptide hydrogels for biomedical applicationsFollowing her PhD, she was appointed to a PDRA position at Birmingham University.

Illida Mohd Nawi obtained her PhD in 2018 working on the design of nano-structured hydrogel for cartilage engineering.

Muayad Albozahid obtained his PhD in 2018 working on the design of novel high modulus PU nanocomposites having been awarded in 2014 a PhD scholarship by the Iraqi government. Following his PhD he return to his lectureship position at the University of Kuja in Iraq.

Zoalfokkar Al-Obad obtained his PhD in 2018 working on the design of PU resins for fibre composite applications having been awarded in 2014 a PhD scholarship by the Iraqi government. Following his PhD, he return to his lectureship position at the University of Babylon in Iraq.

Andrew Smith joined our group in 2014 for 4 years and worked on a number of projects including the self-assembly of short peptides and the design of peptide hydrogels.

Mi Zhou joined our group in 2017 for 6 months and worked on developing self-assembled peptide bio-inks for 3D printing. In 2018 she joined PeptiGelDesign as Research Scientist.

Jacek Wychowaniec obtained his PhD in 2017 working on the design of peptidic hydrogels for cell culture applications designing nano-structured graphene-peptide hydrogels composites for biomedical and tissue engineering applications. Following his PhD he was appointed as Science and Technology Specialist at the NanoBioMedical Centre in Poznań, Poland.

Mohamed El-Sawy joined our group from 2014 to work on the design and development of peptide hydrogels for biomedical applications. In 2017 he was appointed as Lecturer in Pharmaceutics in the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire.

Luis Castillo-Diaz obtained his PhD in 2015 working on the design of peptide hydrogels for cell culture applications following which he took up a 2-year PDRA position in our group. In 2017 he was appointed research scientist at the Center for Research and Applied Technology in Jalisco (CIATEJ) which is part of the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT).

Chris Hickling obtained his PhD in 2015 working on the design of peptide-enzyme networks for bioengineering applications. Following his PhD he went to Bolton University to take up a PDRA position.

Pietro Locatelli obtained his PhD in 2015 working on designing polyurea nanoparticules. He then was recruited as a Physical Polymer Scientist by Syngenta.

Laura Szkolar obtained her PhD in 2015 working on designing peptide based hydrogels for cell culture and tissue engineering applications. Following her stay in our group, Laura took on a Research Associate position at the Michigan State University.

Nabilah Ruslan obtained her PhD in 2015 working on the design and characterisation of protein hydrogels for tissue engineering  and drug delivery applications.

Jonathan Gibbons obtained his PhD in 2015 working on controlling the mechanical properties of peptide hydrogels. He subsequently became an intern as at Medical Consultancy company in London.

Chinemelum Nedolisa obtained his PhD in 2015 working on the design of TPUs based resins for composite applications.

David Roberts obtained his PhD in 2014 working in our group on the self-assembly and gelation properties of peptide and peptide-polymer conjugates to design novel materials for drug delivery applications. He then was recruited by Piramal Entripses in Scotland as a protein scientist.

Emma Lowe joined in September 2013 for 6 month and pursued Claire's work on optimising peptide hydrogels for stem cell differentiation. She then re-joined Dr. C. Merry group to pursue her academic carrier.

Claire Pickford joined our group In February 2012 for 18 months and worked on the optimising of peptide hydrogels for the differentiation of stem cell in collaboration with Dr C. Merry.

Jie Gao joined our group in 2007 as an MSc. In 2008 she was awarded an University of Manchester Alumni Fellowship to do a PhD in our group on the gelation properties of model peptides and their use for cell culture applications. She graduated in 2013 and subsequently returned to China.

Jean-Baptiste Guilbaud joined our group in 2007 and worked on a number of projects including the design of enzymatic triggered peptide hydrogels and the synthesis of novel polymer-peptide conjugates for the design of responsive hydrogels. In 2013 he was recruited by Crucell's pharmaceutical and analytical department as a research scientist.

David Adams obtained his PhD in 2011 working in our group on understanding and characterising the self-assembly and gelation properties of proteins.

Claire Tang obtained her PhD in 2010 working in our group on the understanding of the self-assembly and gelation properties of short peptide amphiphiles. She then took up a postdoctoral research position in our group working on designing peptide-based biomaterials for topical drug delivery. In 2013 she was recruited by Reckitt Benckiser as a research scientist.

Stephen Boothroyd obtained his PhD in 2011 working on improving and controlling the mechanical properties of self-assembled peptide biomaterials. Following his stay in our group Stephen took on a Research Associate position at the University of Durham.

Ayeesha Mujeeb obtained her PhD in our group working on developing peptide-based hydrogels for the culture of chondrocytes in 2012. Following her PhD she did a short postdoctoral stay in our group and then went onto work as a consultant for the Dubai Biotechnology Research Park.

Achilleas Tsiotas obtained his PhD in our group working on segmented, high hard block content polyurethanes in 2012. Following his stay in our group Achilleas went onto work as research scientist for Goodyear Dunlop in Luxemburg.

Kate Meade was a postdoctoral research fellow in our group in 2010-11 working on applying novel peptides based scaffolds to stem cell culture in collaboration with Dr C. Merry group. Following her stay in our group she took on a new postdoctoral position in our School.

Antons Maslovskis obtained his PhD in 2010 working on the synthesis and characterisation of peptide-responsive polymer conjugates. Following is stay in our group Anton went onto work as research scientist for AkzoNobel.

Omar Al-Sayari obtained his PhD in 2010 working on the structure-properties relationships in polyethylenes synthesised using novel catalysts. Following his stay in our group Omar returned to work for SABIC.

Martyn Cornish obtained his PhD in 2010 working on the structure-property relationships in poly(urethane-urea) elastomers in collaboration with Huntsman Polyurethanes. Following his stay in our group Martyn went on working as a consultant for the English Cricket Board.

Maria Simon-Saenz obtained her PhD in 2009 working on UV-induced reactions in Langmuir monolayers. Following her stay in our group Maria went onto work for Unilever in their corporate research group

Antonios Konstantopoulos obtained his PhD in 2009 working on the self-assembling and gelation properties peptides.  Following his stay in our group Antonios went back to Greece to fulfil his military obligations.

James Steward obtained his EngD in 2008 working on properties of spray-dried detergent granules in collaboration with P&G. Following his stay in our group James went onto work as a Chemical Engineer for British Oxygen Company (BOC).

Florentina Stoica obtained her PhD in 2008 working on the synthesis and characterisation of polymer-peptide conjugates. Following her stay in our group Florentina went onto work as a Chemical Engineer for Shell International.

Elisabeth Vey obtained her PhD in 2007 working on the degradation dynamics of poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid copolymers in collaboration with AstraZeneca in our group. She then worked as a postdoctoral research associate focusing on the self-assembling properties of peptides for biomaterial applications. Following her stay in our group Elisabeth went on working for Ethypharm a pharmaceutical company.

Daniel Benton obtained his PhD in June 2008 working on "The Physical Characterisation of Protective Antigen Protein". Following his stay in our group he was appointed to a Lectureship at the University of Huddersfield.

Hui Yan obtained her PhD in May 2008 working on "Protein Hydrogels From Lysozyme: Structures, Properties and Applications". Hui went onto work as a Chemical Engineering Consultant for Advantica.

Helen Baker obtained her PhD in 2008 working on "Amorphous Pharmaceuticals: Formation, Characterisation and Stability". Following her stay in our group she was appointed by AstraZeneca (US) as a Research Scientist.

Sergio Garcia-Rivera obtained his PhD in 2007 working on "Amyloid Fibrils as Self-Assembled Biomaterials: An Insight Into Biopolymer Gelation".

Pasumarty M. Subrahmanyam obtained his PhD in 2007 working on "Microstructure of surfactant mesophases under shear". Following his stay in our group he was appointed by Unilever (UK) as Postdoctoral Research Scientist.

Paolo Mussone obtained his PhD in 2007 working on "UV-Induced Reactions in Langmuir Monolayers From Preformed Polymers". Following his stay in our group he became a postdoctoral research fellow in the Oil Sands Engineering Research Group at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada.

Laurent Caron was a postdoctoral research fellow in our group in 2006-07 working on the self assembling properties of model peptides. Following his stay in our group he was appointed as an Analytical Chemist with Cambridge Research Biochemicals (CRB).

Vincenzo D'Ignoti obtained his MPhil in 2006 working on "Model Segmented Polyurethanes: Thermodynamic - Structure - Properties Correlations". Following his stay in our group he was appointed as an Analytical Chemist with Dow Chemical (IT).

Debasish Haldar was a postdoctoral research fellow in our group in 2005 working on self-assembling properties of peptides for biomaterial applications. Following his stay in our group he was awarded a Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship and went to Würzburg University, Germany.

Rongsheng Zhang was a postdoctoral research fellow in our group in 2005 working on the self assembling properties of model peptides. Following his stay in our group he was appointed as an Analytical Chemist with Lipoxen, London.

Paul Metcalfe obtained his MPhil in 2005 working on the "Role of Chemical Architecture on the Physical Properties of Model Thermoplastic Polyurethanes".
