I am an engineer, computer scientist, researcher and
lecturer. Graduated from Tech
of Monterrey (Mexico) with a Bachelor in Electronic Communications
Engineering (1994), from University
of Essex (United Kingdom) with a Master in Sciences in Telecommunications
and Information Systems (1997) and from University
of California at Irvine with a Master in Sciences in Information and
Computer Science (2002) and a PhD in Information and Computer Science
(2006).
I was born and raised in Mexico, but for the last 14 years have lived in a number of cities around the world including Atlanta, GA (USA), Antwerp (Belgium), Colchester (UK), York (UK), Irvine, CA (USA), and more recently Manchester (UK).
I am the second of a family of four. My father was an entrepreneur and a business man. My mother is a primary school teacher. My sister is a researcher in Texas A&M University; one of my brothers is a practising lawyer and the other a technology journalist and traveller.
I am married to Karyna. Together, we have the privilege of sharing our life with our hyper-active two-year old son, Sebastian.

Short Bio
Dr. Victor M. Gonzalez is a Lecturer in Human-Computer
Interaction and member of the Information Systems and Interactive Systems
Group at the University of Manchester. He studies the psychological and
sociological implications of information technologies; focusing on analyzing
the 'praxis' of work, the personal and social spheres of human activity
and on designing and evaluating information technologies. Dr. Gonzalez
is a Senior Research Fellow of CRITO (Centre for Research on Information
Technology and Organizations) at the University of California at Irvine,
USA. He received a Ph.D. and Master degrees in Information and Computer
Science from the University of California at Irvine and a Master degree
in Telecommunications and Information Systems from the University of Essex,
United Kingdom. He is a member of IEEE Society on Social Implications
of Technology, member of ACM SIGCHI and past vice-president of SIG-CHI
Mexican Chapter.
