For a smooth, projective surface X we study the slope stability of its tangent bundle, an attribute connected to the existence of a Kähler-Einstein metric on X. We will introduce basic notions about slope stability and ruled surfaces then study their example in detail. Time permitting, we will review some known results and show how our theorem fits into the bigger picture.
