Manchester Geometry Seminar 2015/2016

Thursday 12 November 2015. The Frank Adams Room (Room 1.212), the Alan Turing Building. 4.15pm

Polygonal Partitions of Surfaces, Fullerenes, Graphenes, ...

Victor Buchstaber (Steklov Mathematical Institute and the University of Manchester)

The talk is devoted to classical and recent mathematical results which had drawn attention of physicists and chemists in connection with problems of nanotechnology.

We will formulate combinatorial, geometrical, and topological tasks concerning molecular carbon structures in terms of convex polytopes and polygonal partitions of 2-surfaces.

The talk is based on the results obtained jointly with N. Yu. Erokhovets.
