A Mass Generation Mechanism for Gauge Fields

We suggest a new mass generation mechanism for gauge fields. The quantum field theory constructed is nonabelian, gauge invariant, massive and asymptotically free. When the mass is equal to zero the new theory is reduced to the usual quantized Yang-Mills theory. We also prove that within the framework of perturbation theory the new theory has a mass gap.
