Affine and Projective Structures on Compact Riemann Surfaces

Frank Loray (Université de Rennes)

A projective structure on a real compact orientable surface S is given by a complex atlas on S with transition maps in PGL(2,C). Following a classical construction, we can equivalently define such a structure by considering a complex P1-bundle B over S together with a section and a foliation on B transversal to the fibers and to the section. From this point of view, we will survey some classical questions and results on affine and projective structures, and their monodromy.
