A short walk from Litton Village through Tansley Dale will bring you into Cressbrook Dale, a National Nature Reserve
A prominent feature in Cressbrook Dale is Peter's Stone, which was formed millions of years ago from a landslip
In the winter a steam flows along the full length of the dale, but disappears from the top end of the dale in the summer. The name Cressbrook comes from the watercress that was cultivated in the stream during the 18th Century
