The Healing Foundation Centre The Healing Foundation is a national UK charity that champions the cause of people living with disfigurement and visible loss of function by funding research into pioneering scientific, surgical and psychological healing techniques. Please follow this link for The Healing Foundation website. The Healing Foundation Centre represents a 25 year, £10 million commitment between the Healing Foundation and the University of Manchester to advance the understanding of wound healing and tissue regeneration. Established in 2006, the Centre is led by Professor Enrique Amaya and is based in the state-of-the-art Michael Smith Building within the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Manchester. In January 2007, two Healing Foundation Fellowships were awarded to Dr. Kimberly Mace from the University of California, San Francisco, and Dr. Tom Millard from the University of Bristol. Kim joined the Centre in July 2007 (Mace Lab website) and Tom in January 2008 (Millard Lab website). A fourth group within the Centre is led by RCUK Fellow, Karel Dorey, and finally Mat Hardman's lab joined the Centre in spring 2010. The Centre was formally opened by Simon Weston OBE, the Healing Foundation Lead Ambassador, on the 13th September 2007. To celebrate, the Centre hosted a two-day opening symposium which included a series of talks from a variety of international guest speakers.
