If you want information back from your readers you need to place a form on your page. It is easier than you might think to place the familiar buttons and boxes using HTML - processing the form is trickier though, but we will cover the basics here. In any case you can use form elements, possibly combined with JavaScript events, to place all sorts of effects on your page that are interactive in a basic sense.

Before moving on to lecture 10 you should know how to place various different types of form element on the screen (at least one from each of the element categories of free-form elements, selections, and buttons). You should also know the basic principles of names and values and how to use mail-to to engage in the simplest kind of form processing.
