advanced images: maps and multiparts

Though you now have all the basic knowledge you need to create sophisticated web sites, there are some enhancements which are in common use and which, if used well, can provide extra interest and assistance for your readers. This lesson discusses the use of image maps and multipart images which allow you to stop thinking of images as monolithic objects, but rather as things which can be divided up, and different parts of them treated in different ways.

Remember you can see a printer-friendly (text-only) version of this lecture if you want to print it off.

At present there is no self-test for this lecture. However, it's recommended that before moving on to lecture 8 you have at least tried to encode both a basic image map and a multipart image, probably with the help of Paint Shop Pro. Remember that the use of both of these techniques is a compulsory element of the course work.
