Q. My personal webpage is not listed. Why is that?
A. This can be for multiple reasons. The primary one is that your P: drive is not hosted on a personal webpage enabled server. The other one is that the username corresponding to the web page is not considered as the primary P: drive account.
Q. I want to restrict who can access my files.
A. The web server used to deliver personal web pages is apache and support access control list governed by means of an access files (.htaccess). We named this files access.cnf. Please see the internet how to create one.
Q. The above answer is too technical. Is there an easy way to control who can access my files?
A. Yes. Two access controls have been created for you. 1] Just create a directory called "private" at the top-level and any person trying to access the files in there will be prompted for a central University of Manchester username/password combination. 2] Just create a directory called "intranet" at the top-level and any person trying to access the files in there from outside campus will be prompted for a central University of Manchester username/password combination. Anyone on campus will be able to access these files freely.
Q. Can I see who is accessing my files?
A. Not for the moment but it is something we would like to offer.
